John Wayne Gacy Remarks Prompt Michele Bachmann

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann is acknowledging "misspeaking" occasionally, including wrongly claiming that actor John Wayne was from her Waterloo, Iowa hometown, but says she's "a substantive, serious person" who would be a good president.
Announcing her candidacy on Monday, Bachman flubbed her hometown history in declaring "John Wayne was from Waterloo" and "that's the kind of spirit that I have, too."
The actor was born nearly 150 miles away. It was the serial killer John Wayne Gacy Jr. who lived, for a time, in Waterloo.
"I wish I could be perfect," Bachmann said. "I'm a substantive, serious person" who has "good sense on how to turn the economy around" as president.

Akhil Gogoi’s arrest by Assam Government

New Delhi / Guwahati, June 24th : As was expected, Akhil Gogoi, Genereal Secretary along with Mukut, Office Secretary, KMSS have been arrested by the Assam police from the Guwahati Press Club on the charges of arson, rioting and burning of government vehicles. It is ironical that there has been no action taken on Debasish Borah DSP, Dispur and other police officials responsible for day light murder of a nine year old child, Shiv Chauhan (40), and Viren Kolita (62) a rickshaw puller. Is this the rule of law? It is nothing but vindictiveness on part of the Congress Government in Assam against whom KMSS has been actively campaigning and exposing their corruption.

Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) has a history of non-violent agitations and exposing the corruption of the district officials and some of the key Ministers of Mr. Tarun Gogoi’s Cabinet. KMSS has been a victim of state terror in past as well and many of their cadres has been arrested on various charges for opposing anti-people development, mega dams in the North East and unearthing massive corruption in the PDS in Golaghat district. If in all these years KMSS has never indulged in violence or damaging government property then how can they do this ?
We fear that Akhil Gogoi might be booked under the National Security Act which is completely undemocratic and against all the constitutional norms. NAPM strongly condemns any such devious endeavour on the Assam government part. We demand that the government immediately withdraws false charges and release Akhil and take action against the erring police officials responsible for the cold blooded murder of three people.
Any attempt at muzzling the democratic dissent and voices of the people will not be tolerated by the people’s movements. The onus for safety of Akhil Gogoi and Mukut lies completely on the Chief Minister Shri Tarun Gogoi, who is constitutionally bound to defend the democratic rights of the social movements and activists.

McLaren launches its first dedicated retailer Hyde Park, | kings of leon hyde park

McLaren London at its One Hyde Park, Knightsbridge location is the first dedicated McLaren retailer chosen to cater for customers of the McLaren MP4-12C super car. The opening, hosted by Vodafone McLaren Mercedes drivers, Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton, and McLaren Group and McLaren Automotive Executive Chairman, Ron Dennis, celebrated ‘Defining Moments in Time’.

Ron Dennis said: “We are fiercely proud of the McLaren brand and I am personally proud that we are welcoming into the McLaren family some of the world’s best car retailers, many of whom are with us tonight. I look forward to delivering great cars to them, as I know we share a common objective: we are driven to succeed and we try to be the best at everything that we do.

“Jenson, Lewis, our hosts, and many of our guests represent tonight a group of people who share a particular value: that is that somewhere along our careers and lives we have experienced an iconic, or defining moment. Tonight is that moment for McLaren Automotive,” Dennis concluded.
McLaren has invested nearly £800m since 2005 to establish itself as the world’s newest sports car company. That investment has focused on the development of a range of innovative, technologically ground-breaking, and bespoke high-performance sports cars, as well as the construction of a brand new manufacturing facility at the company’s headquarters.
The initial 35 strong retail network was recently completed with the confirmation of McLaren retailers in Frankfurt, Munich, Osaka, Singapore and Tokyo whilst attention now moves on to securing up to six more retailers in 2012. Markets that McLaren is considering include China, Russia and Scandinavia. The company’s first ‘pure’ McLaren sports car is experiencing high demand with over 18 months of production currently accounted for.
